This ASUS PG278Q is one of the best gaming monitors you can buy right now – but hang on what about the newer PG279Q model available that came out in October 2015?” That’s a great question and the answer is – the price.

This 8Q model costs around £530 or $680 whereas the newer 9Q is about £700 or $850. The main difference aside from a slightly higher refresh rate is the newer model uses a IPS rather than TN panel (find out more about TN vs IPS here).

While it may not be the most recent model, but the ASUS PG278Q is still a good option considering it’s almost £200 cheaper. It’s still a top end 27” gaming monitor featuring a WQHD resolution, 144hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, NVIDIA G-Sync and support for 3D vision as well as super-thin bezel and full tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment.
