This was my first Gamescom, and boy was it a good one! I was lucky enough to see a hands-on demo of Cyberpunk 2077, play Battlefield V, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and many more games I can’t wait to play more of! But it’s the PC hardware and peripherals that provide you with the best gaming experience, and Samsung’ gaming monitors are at the cutting edge!
First and foremost, I’m a PC Gamer – I want the best, most immersive experience possible. So, visiting Samsung’s booth at Gamescom 2018 was a highlight of the show with their latest and greatest tech on display: Galaxy Note9, Q8F QLED TV, Galaxy Tab S4 tablet and loads more. For me, it was their range of curved, ultrawide and QLED gaming monitor that was most exciting.
At Gamescom, Samsung unveiled their new CJG5 curved gaming monitor which comes in 27-inch (C27JG5) and 32-inch (C32JG5) sizes, with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 144hz refresh rate and 3000:1 contrast ratio.
I’m not totally sold on curved TVs, but curved makes a lot of sense for PC monitors as you’re always sitting directly in front of it – in the sweet spot. The 1800R curve gives you a more immersive and wrap-around experience.
Combined with the super smooth 144hz refresh and the sharp WQHD+ resolution, the CJG5 ticks all the boxes for an awesome gaming monitor.
If you’ve watched my videos, you’ll know I love a good ultrawide monitor. Samsung had the epic 49-inch CHG90 super-ultrawide gaming monitor on display. It was first released in late 2017 but seeing it in person is still awe-inspiring.
Expanding their super-ultrawide range, Samsung has also just launched the new CJ89 monitors in 43-inch and 49-inch sizes. Check out my unboxing video of the 43CJ89 below, with a 32:10 aspect ratio, 120hz refresh rate and support for USB C.
Samsung continues to innovate and provide some of the best gaming monitors on the market – and if you’re a fan of curved or ultrawide monitors – they’re definitely worth considering!
